This project is located on a large rural/ agricultural property in Sonoma and is designed to be used for large family gatherings such as weddings and Thanksgiving. The main hall is a cathedral-like space, with the different layered materials amplifying the volumetric effect. The space is designed to seat 40 people at a single table, centered on the view out to the vineyard at one end, and on an oversized bar behind barn doors on the other.

The facades are unassuming; stained to look like a long-time feature of the agricultural landscape.

At 4000sqft the proportions of most windows and doors are oversized so that from a distance the barn looks proportional to itself and the surrounding landscape.

Our clients had a clear vision for the interior aesthetic; Reclaimed corrugated steel wainscoting, oversized barn doors and the continuation of the oil-rubbed bronze fixtures on the inside.

The vaulted main hall allows for plenty of natural light to flood in through the upstairs windows, which reflects from the white ceiling to keep it even brighter. The wrap-around mezzanine used for speeches during festivities also acts as a storage buffer when the barn needs to transform into an event space.
